Alabama HC Kalen DeBoer gives update on OL Parker Brailsford
Gary Cosby Jr.-Tuscaloosa News / USA TODAY NETWORK

Alabama head coach Kalen DeBoer gave an update on Washington transfer Parker Brailsford who has been away from the team this week.

“Parker is just going through non-football related things,” DeBoer said following the Crimson Tide’s scrimmage on Saturday. “He’s gonna be with us. He’s working with our strength staff, and done a great job there. He’s never done anything wrong. It’s nothing like that. It’s working hard and he’s gonna be ready to go here sooner than later. Just taking it day by day.

“He’s gonna be here with us. It’s not a transfer thing. It’s nothing like that. Just want to make sure I’m clear. It’s nothing on his end where he’s done anything wrong or anything like that.”

Brailsford transferred to the Crimson Tide shortly following DeBoer’s departure from the Huskies to Tuscaloosa. During his redshirt freshman season last year, Brailsford was a second-team All-Pac 12 selection and FWAA freshman All-American.

With Brailsford’s absence, redshirt junior James Brockermeyer has primarily worked with the first-team offense

“He’s done a really good job,” DeBoer said when asked about Brockermeyer. “He’s got a lot of opportunities to take a lot of snaps, and hanging in there. The communication has been clean. Those five guys have been up there — we had, like you said, Jaeden out for a couple snaps today but he’s done a really good job.

“When those opportunities, that’s what you need to do. He’s taken a lot of snaps here the last week, this past week, these last six or seven days. It’s great. Great opportunity for him.”

Alabama will conduct its final round of practices next week before A-Day on Saturday, April 13 inside Bryant Denny Stadium.
