Penn State football legacy target hones in on college decision

Official visit season is about to start for college football teams around the country. From the end of May through June, many of the top prospects in the 2025 recruiting class will have the red carpet treatment. The Penn State football team is expecting a wave of players to visit Happy Valley over the next few weeks. The Nittany Lions are going to pay close attention to legacy prospect Michael Carroll, who has narrowed his college selection down to four schools.

If Penn State wants to land Michael Carroll in the 2025 recruiting class, the Nittany Lions will have to beat Michigan, Alabama, and Georgia to do so. Carroll, who has been labeled as a “must-get” prospect by head coach James Franklin, is down to those four schools. It was reported by Hayes Fawcett of On3 that this decision had been made by Carroll.

Carroll is the son of Michael Carroll Sr. who played linebacker for the Nittany Lions in the 1990s. Now, the legacy prospect is climbing the recruiting rankings. According to On3, the Doylestown, Pennsylvania native is the No. 2 player in the state. He also ranks as the No. 2 interior offensive lineman and the No. 27 prospect in the 2025 cycle.

Carroll will be back in Happy Valley on June 14 to take his official visit. Penn State happens to be the school that Carroll has visited the most during his recruitment.
