One former Chelsea player has today said that one current midfielder is “not the perfect guy” in some comments analysing this season.

Everyone has had their opinion on various players and situations at the club this season, but former Chelsea players are in a good position to offer their view having been there and done it before at Stamford Bridge.

Things have picked up for Chelsea in recent games, and perhaps one of the driving forces behind that has been the workhorse that is Conor Gallagher in midfield.

The England international is currently involved in a real saga at Chelsea right now, with his contract running out at the end of next season and no sign of a new one being agreed. Chelsea will sell him this summer if they do not agree a new deal and extend him, rather than risk losing him on a free next season.

Blues legend Frank Leboeuf has had his say on Gallagher, and there is so much that he loves about the player. In words cited by SPTC today, Leboeuf said:

“Gallagher is not the perfect guy, but he works so hard in the middle of the park. He gives 200 per cent every game that he plays.

“He scores goals, he defends, he tackles and everything. I love that spirit. It’s the spirit that brings help to the others. It’s also a model for the youngsters.”

I think he is pretty much spot on here with this analysis. Gallagher has been great for Chelsea this season and he has come with the spirit and strong mentality, something that Chelsea players have not had in recent seasons. He also loves the club and has a genuine desire to win as a fan as well as a player.

Chelsea will feel real fan backlash if he is sold this summer, especially after their banner statement at a recent game.
